Daniel Johnnes, founder of the world famous Burgundy festival La Paulée, will present a selection of exciting Burgundy producers showcasing great terroirs from the region.

The Aviary Kinderhook is called “the most exciting restaurant in the Hudson Valley” by none other than Ruth Reichl and specializes in ingredient-focused Asian-inspired cuisine, with seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms and purveyors. The restaurant resides under the soaring roof of the historic Kinderhook Knitting Mill in the village center of Kinderhook.

Chef Robert Howay brings a refined, ingredient-driven approach shaped by experience in some of New York’s most respected kitchens and hospitality organizations, including Eleven Madison Park, The Dinex Group, Union Square Events, and Yakitori Torishin. Now Executive Chef at The Aviary in Kinderhook, New York, he creates seasonal cuisine influenced by Asian culinary traditions and guided by close relationships with regional farmers and producers. His cooking reflects a deep respect for craftsmanship, precision, and exceptional ingredients

Kinderhook is a 2.5 hour drive from New York or a 2 hour AMTRAK train ride to Hudson and another 20 minute drive from there.

To make a weekend of it, we would suggest the following hotels in Kinderhook and Hudson:

For your Friday night, there are great dining options at The Maker, Pez at Rivertown Lodge, Feast & Floret in Hudson, and Klocke Estate in Claverack, a must visit distillery that, in addition to dining, also offers breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley.
