Why do you love Burgundy?
Burgundy produces wines that are among the most delicious Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs and Gamays in the world. These grapes act as the voices of the places in which they are grown, and centuries of work in the vineyards and domaines translate these voices into inimitable expressions of terroir. Good and great Burgundies are wines of rare beauty and unique essence.
What is your favorite Burgundy Pairing?
One of the great joys of Burgundy is how food-friendly and versatile the wines are with many cuisines. A favorite pairing at Tannin currently is Roasted Duck Breast with Butternut Squash, Pancetta and Cranberry Hash. It makes an excellent pairing with two reds that we currently feature by the glass from the Côte de Beaune: Nicolas Rossignol Bourgogne and Catherine et Claude Marechal Savigny-les-Beaune.
How are you celebrating La Paulée Burgundy Week?
Tannin Wine Bar & Kitchen features small production wines from producers that seek to share and express the uniqueness of their regions and sites. We offer a seasonal lunch and dinner menu that compliments and enhances our wines. The wine list changes frequently both to reflect the season and because many of the wines that we offer are very limited. We typically offer 50-60 wines by the glass or taste, as well as seasonal feature flights, wine pairings and a substantialnumber of wines by the bottle. Tannin also hosts a number of vignerons, wine makers and importers each year for special events including wine dinners, wine tastings and seminars. Our aim is to make unique wines as accessible as possible while working to serve them in the best context possible.
