Attending Winemakers: Olivier Bernstein
In 2002 Olivier Bernstein became a winemaker with the purchase of an abandoned winery and selection of 8 hectares of old vines in Roussillon, quickly resulting in his successful “Mas de la Devèze.” In 2007, Bernstein returned to his first love, Burgundy, with his creation of a Maison that produces very small, high quality volumes of only Premier and Grands Crus. By 2012 he became the owner of the Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru and Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru Les Champeaux. Bernstein achieves an amazing quality to his wines with great care and patience for the picking and bottling process; His Maison only picks grapes at perfect maturity and health, and bottles every wine by hand, and uses old vines that are naturally balanced and produce small yields.
